Why is the universal language of music an effective communications method?  Because music is the bridge that spans communication chasms.  A bridge is a structure that spans across a barrier of some kind – a chasm, a gap, an obstacle, or a danger – and provides a path of connection between two otherwise segregated things.  In this context, music becomes a means of communicative connection that overcomes existing obstacles.
